Enterprising Ways to Inspire and Help Young People Achieve

Introducing young people to enterprise, enterprise skills and the concept of entrepreneurship from an early age in a creative and inspiring manner cannot be underestimated in preparing each individual for adult life and work.

By raising awareness and aspiration as well as developing skills, knowledge and understanding we are giving young people the best opportunity to succeed, achieve and fulfil their potential talent.

Introducing these concepts and embedding them at an early stage and on a continuous basis is critical. Providing real life experiences and role models from business and enterprise that young people can relate to are extremely powerful in raising aspiration and belief and encouraging success.

This short film demonstrates some of the ways this is being put into practice locally.

Opportunities for employers

PartnersThere are numerous opportunities for employers to become  involved in activities  in partnership with schools. The DE4L Business Network has been established to identify how businesses wish to become involved, and match these wishes to the needs of Doncaster schools and learners.

There are three levels at which employers and their employees can become involved:

  1. Knowledge and information gathering – activities that provide opportunities to find out what’s going on in Doncaster schools.
  2. Activities with learners – at least eight activities that provide opportunities to meet and work with young people.
  3. Supporting and influencing – lots of activities provide opportunities to support schools and teachers using business expertise.

Working in partnership with schools not only benefits schools and learners but also has enormous benefits for businesses which include:
