Effective Partnership Programme

Approved for IHM CPD Recognition  

A 4 module course for employers culminating in a half-day placement with a host school in order to develop sustainable partnerships between local employers and host schools in to strengthen enterprise and vocational provision.

The courses will all be delivered at the Express Holiday Inn near the M18 in Doncaster, unless other notification given. Breakfast sessions will commence at 8am and finish at 11am, twilight sessions will commence at 4pm and finish at 7pm.

Adwick/CH Power Tools

Next to ‘Hutton Business Park’ there is a 2.5 acre piece of land which they wish to develop into a ‘green park’. Your challenge is to design and make a model of different types of recycling stations to be placed on the park. Give the park a name and design marketing material and a logo for the park.

Armthorpe/ABP

 

Design and make an ‘on the go’ healthy beefburger to appeal to children of your age.  Give the product a name and produce attractive packaging and promotional materials which show the necessary nutritional information.

Balby Carr/Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport

Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport wish to encourage their staff & passengers to use ‘Green Travel’ to get to the airport.

Don Valley/Fellowes

Design & make a model of a shredder for home use, to be made by Fellowes. Give the shredder a name, design a ‘Stay Safe’ character and marketing materials to encourage people to buy the shredder.

Danum/Henderson Garage Doors Supercentre

Design and make a model trailer that Henderson Supercentres can take to trade shows which opens into a stand from which they can promote their company. Decide upon a name for the trailer design.

Edlington/Toppings Pies

Design and make a savoury hot food meat/vegetable product which must have a pastry base with a twist.  Give the product a name.  Design a poster/leaflet to market this product and include a recipe card

Hall Cross/DHL Exel

Design an environmentally friendly and simple to assemble packaging solution for use by DHL Exel for Lynx and Impulse Products. 

Hatfield/FHM

Create a DVD about Health & Safety in Construction.

Hayfield/Ardagh Glass

Develop a campaign to encourage the re-cycling of glass.  The campaign is to include a model of a glass re-cycling container which provides for the separation of three glass colours. 

Hungerhill/Bridon

Design and build a model suspension or cable-stayed bridge spanning 500mm gap, to bear a 20 kilo weight along the bridge deck.

McAuley/McDonalds

Develop a system to encourage recycling of customer waste from a McDonald’s restaurant.

Mexborough/Sue Ryder Care

Design and make a fund raising game for use by Sue Ryder Care at their Classic Car Show on 13 July to raise funds for Sue Ryder Care.  Design a poster/leaflet to encourage people to play the game. 

Northcliffe/Strata

 

Design a work outfit taking into consideration Health and Safety to be worn on a building site. Also prepare a PowerPoint presentation to warn fellow pupils of the dangers of a building site. A building site is not a playground. Also produce a poster to be displayed on a site hording to discourage children from entering the site.

Ridgewood/K+N

Design and make a model of a forklift truck to be used in the recycling area of K+N Warehouse at Redhouse for B&Q (include B&Q logos). The model must be able to lift and place a bale of compressed cardboard weighing 200 grams onto a standard pallet to a height of at least 7 cm. Extra points will be given for achieving a greater height than 7cm and for the fastest forklift in the timed run.

Thorne/Sainsbury's

Design and make an alternative platter of birthday party foods for children of your age. Also produce marketing materials to promote your platter, encompassing Sainsbury’s ‘Try something new today’ campaign.

Apprenticeships Business Briefings for South Yorkshire Businesses

These  events are being supported by Doncaster Chamber of Commerce and Enterprise, Federation of Small Businesses, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce & Industry and South Yorkshire Female Entrepreneur Network. The business briefings will have speakers from businesses in some of the following sectors: Retail, Construction, Hospitality & Catering, Business & Customer Care and IT & Finance. They will provide specific sector insights into the benefits of employing apprentices, but businesses from all sectors are encouraged and welcome to attend.

There will be the chance for you to talk to apprentice employers and the LSC about apprenticeships, how they are funded and the high-quality training that is tailored to meet the needs of employers.
