Have you produced, or found, a resource to support successful enterprise learning? Why not share that resource with other teachers? We hope that during the course of the DE4L programme this page will build up a bank of resources that teachers in secondary schools can draw upon to support their delivery of enterprise learning in their classrooms.

If you have worksheets, lesson plans, any ideas for activities or any other resources you have produced that have been successful in supporting enterprise learning, or if you know of any sources of resources, free or to purchase, such as websites or publishers we hope you will want to share them with other teachers. Any sources of resources will be added to the list of sources below, and worksheets, lesson plans etc will be available to download.

my-bizidea classroom activities
Activities designed to develop business and enterprise skills through simulated business activities.

The following two classroom activities support the use of the my-bizidea website. They will develop students' understanding of business concepts such as branding, marketing and financial planning, and require students to make decisions and work as a team.

Activity 1

The Branding Game

No-matter what sector your business is in, an appropriate Logo Design is a vital necessity that is essential to every business. For every business their logo should be simple, fitting the attitude and image the company is attempting to convey. Virtually every successful business adheres to these requirements, generally with the ‘less-is-more’ approach, allowing them to stand out and be recognised easily.

This simulated activity helps young people to appreciate the importance of projecting the right image when marketing a business by looking at existing logos and discussing their effectiveness before designing one of their own for a specific purpose as part of a design team.

Marketing Presentation – this PowerPoint presentation to be used by the teacher to introduce the activity to students.

Logo Quiz – fun PowerPoint quiz, with answers, where students have to name companies from more than 30 displayed logos. Scores contribute to team scores.

Group Analysis sheet – teachers may wish to use this sheet at the end of the activity for students to analyse their abilities to work as a team.

Activity 2

The Paper Aeroplane Company

A simulated business activity where students work in competing teams to plan, order materials, manufacture, brand, test and sell paper planes.
