Business placements for teachers

A business placement is an opportunity for school staff to spend between 1 and 5 days in a business or industrial environment to develop an understanding of work related learning and forge links with local employers. The placement aims to support teachers and other staff in:

• developing work related learning and enterprise activities
• forging sustainable business education links.
• enhancing enterprise, leadership and management skills (including managing change)
• producing case studies and resources for applied/vocational courses
• planning for the delivery of the new Diplomas
• offering information and advice to students on career decisions and qualification/ employment pathways

Placements will be provided in an employment sector or industry appropriate to the needs of the school. Previous placements for teachers have taken place with companies such as Debenhams, DESQ Ltd (ICT), Grand St Leger Hotel, Lyceum Theatre, The Music Factory, Polypipe, Print Yorkshire and South Yorkshire Fire Service.

Business placements are provided free of charge to Doncaster schools. Teachers and other school staff such as head teachers or learning support assistants/mentors may take part in this scheme. A contribution towards cover costs is available.
